About the Farm

Neliza Estate | Nyeri, Kenya
“Elevating Kenyan Coffee through Innovation and Tradition”
Neliza Estate is a premier coffee-produced estate located in the heart of Nyeri County. The name Nyeri is derived from the Maasai word nyiro, meaning red, after the red volcanic soil in the area. At an elevation of 1,800 meters on the slopes of Mount Kenya, the estate combines a perfect microclimate with meticulous processing to produce world-class specialty coffee. Every bean is a testament to our mission: providing a premium, sustainable coffee experience that honors the rich, volcanic soil of Nyeri.

The Founders
Nehemiah and Elizabeth Ndegwa.
Our passion is coffee. We seek to be the leading coffee destination in Nyeri, recognized for premium quality, eco-friendly practices, and a superior customer experience. We are committed to providing a premium, sustainable coffee experience that honors the rich, volcanic soil of Nyeri. Every bean is our spirit and commitment.

The "Neliza Method" (Processing & Quality)

  1. To ensure a distinct flavour profile, Neliza Estate manages the entire supply chain on-site: 1. Strict Selection: Only the densest, ripest
    cherries are harvested.
  2. Water-Grading: Cherries undergo water- based grading to remove "floaters," ensuring only high-density beans move forward.
  3. Anaerobic Fermentation: Beans undergo a 5- day anaerobic fermentation. This extended window allows for deep development of complex esters, resulting in a cup with significantly higher sweetness and a heavier body than traditional Kenyan washed coffees.
  4. Indirect Drying: Cherries are sun-dried slowly, preserving the integrity of the bean and ensuring long-term shelf stability.

Flavour Profile Note:
Expect a cup characterized by high density, vibrant complexity, and a lingering sweetness, often featuring notes of dark chocolate, toasted nuts, and bright florals.

Total Traceability:
Because we operate our own wet mill and drying beds, we provide roasters with a direct "farm-to-cup" narrative. Each lot is water-graded and tracked through post harvest and ‘go to market’ processes, to maintain integrity of the lots.

Sustainable Impact:
Supported by Origin Connect Services. our farm follows strict eco-friendly practices, ensuring that every bag purchased supports long-term soil health and local agricultural education. We have implemented advanced agricultural training, including precise fertilization and canopy management, ensuring the land remains productive for generations to come

A Vision for the Future
Today, Neliza Estate is more than just a farm; it is an experimental hub. By partnering with Origin Connect Services, the estate continues to refine its "Good Agricultural Practices," ensuring that while the processing methods are futuristic, the stewardship of the land remains rooted in sustainable, eco-friendly tradition.
